The Fix-It Guide
Broken robot? Burst pipe? Bins skipped? Start with what's wrong — we'll route you to who can actually fix it.
What's broken?
Electricity: it depends where you live
Soweto, Orange Farm, Ivory Park, Finetown and parts of Diepsloot are supplied directly by Eskom — not City Power. Elsewhere in Joburg, City Power is your first call.
Joburg Connect
The City's single 24/7 call centre for any municipal query — billing, rates, service faults, complaints.
- Your account number (on your bill)
- The street address
- A reference of previous logs, if any
City Power
Distributes electricity in most of Joburg. It doesn't generate power — that's Eskom. It runs the local network, streetlights, and prepaid vending.
- Meter number
- Pole/box number if visible
- Suburb and street
- Whether neighbours have power
Joburg Water
City-owned company for water reticulation and sewage across Joburg.
- Account or stand number
- Nature of the leak (main / meter / sewage)
- Photo helps
JRA
Johannesburg Roads Agency: potholes, traffic signals (robots), road signs, stormwater drains — all municipal roads and M-routes.
- GPS pin or exact intersection
- Photo
- Whether it's on an M-route or side-street
Pikitup
City-owned refuse collection. Also dispatches illegal-dumping clearance.
- Address / GPS pin
- Photo of the dumping
- Whether it's on public or private land
JMPD
Metro police: enforces traffic and city by-laws. For a burglary or serious crime call SAPS, not JMPD.
- Location and direction of travel
- Vehicle description
- Photo if safe to take
Eskom

- Whether it's a full outage or single household
SANRAL
Runs the N1, N3, N12 and other national routes crossing Joburg.
